Fieldwork Hong Kong offers good accommodation for a variety of social entrepreneurial projects and scientific research work. We seek to study and foster the rural and cultural environment of Hong Kong and southern China.

Our interests include natural history, farming, language and rural economics. Our learning centre on Lantau island serves as a base for study and research into the human and natural life of the politically-divided bioregion of southern China.

Country lovers, nature enthusiasts, researchers, gardeners and others are welcome to stay at the Lantau Centre which is just 30 minutes by ferry from Hong Kong’s Central district. The two-storey dwelling lies in a secluded, lightly-wooded valley with ocean and mountain views. It makes a fine refuge for hikers, field naturalists, and others interested in a rural lifestyle. We are developing a butterfly garden on the land around the house.
